Critic's Notebook: He's Back

Philly-boy Adam Gertler gets his own Food Network show.

Few food fans were more bummed than me when local hero Adam Gertler didn’t take the prize during the season finale of The Next Food Network Star. Apparently, Food Network programming execs didn’t want to see him go any more than I did; they’ve awarded the runner up a show of his own, too.

Will Work For Food, premiering on September 30th, is a cross between Dirty Jobs and Food Finds. Gertler will take his funnyman act on the road, talking to the people who make the food business run and testing out some lesser-known food jobs. According to the press release, we’ll see Gertler feed sharks, taste-test dog food and find flawed potato chips. I’ll definitely tune in to see how he does with his encore performance.

COMMENT:
I am so glad to see that Adam is going to be given a show as well. The final three were a good group, each one bringing a different idea to the table. I liked them all but didn't feel that Aaron should have come out on top. It's good to see a local guy going after such a big dream!!
