Web Original: Critic's Notebook: What to Eat This Weekend

By Joy Manning

No plans for Sunday? Take advantage of what’s promising to be a pleasantly fall-ish day and tour downtown West Chester at this year’s annual Chester County Restaurant Festival (12:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.). Strolling this scenic college town’s streets is always a fun way to spend an afternoon, but at this year’s fête dozens of area eateries along Gay Street will open up their kitchens to hungry festival-goers. (My advice: Seek out the Whip Tavern and Margaret Kuo’s.) Since admission is free, don’t hesitate to wander away from the festivities to check out “Best of Philly 2008” winner Carlino’s Market on nearby Market Street.
