Wedding Date: June 12, 2009 in The Old Mill, Rose Valley PA
How They Met: Jim worked for a novelty and greeting card company that created items for Spencer Gifts. Jim was told that he would have to move offices one day because of a new girl who was hired and was going to be taking his old office. Jim was moved to a smaller office and was mad about changing offices until he saw the new girl. It was Melissa. The two were friends for about 6 months and then a random phone call on Christmas Day just to say Merry Christmas, changed their relationship from friends to a dating couple.
The Proposal: Melissa and Jim are both into the arts. Jim is a writer/editor and Melissa is a painter/graphic artist/secretary/graduate student. You get the idea. Anyway, Jim and Melissa went to New York City for their 4 years of dating anniversary. Saturday night January 12th 2008 Jim surprised Melissa with an unscheduled trip to The Museum of Arts and Design. There at the museum Jim proposed. Jim had been planning the elaborate proposal for months. Jim had contacted a wonderful glass artist that he once wrote about. He had that glass artist create a unique piece of artwork for the engagement ring to sit in on display at the museum for the proposal. It was like something out of a movie. The whole museum was in on the big proposal. After Jim got down on one knee in front of all the museum goers and scary museum security guard, Melissa thought they were going to get kicked out of the museum until she realized that this was all planned out. Melissa said yes after the initial shock of what was happening to her. The museum goers cheered and then, Melissa's brother and his girlfriend and Jim's sister and her husband surprised Melissa from behind the wall of the gallery. The night was full of continuous celebration.
